Carlos Gardel's life echoes the tango itself. Both were illegitimate, shunned, the product of cultures far from the mainstream, little respected and even less loved. And both rose to prominence, fame and world-wide recognition.

They did so jointly, for it was Carlos Gardel, his voice and compositions, who brought tango international fame and respect. He almost single-handedly invented the tango song and his artistry is undiminished even until today. It is there - here - for future generations to cherish and marvel over.
